Fees & slippage

Separate network costs, protocol charges, bridge fees, and execution limits.

Separate the cost of the protocol action from the cost of putting it onchain. Review each in its own unit; a USD estimate is a display aid.

Separate the costs

  • Network fee pays for transaction execution. Both supported networks use ETH for these fees. Base can include L1 data and operator fees.
  • f(x) fee is the protocol’s charge for the action, such as opening, closing, or instant redemption.
  • Bridge fee pays for the cross-chain messaging route and is quoted separately from source transaction gas.
  • Funding or borrowing cost can affect positions over time. A missing current rate is not a zero rate.

Protocol rates can change through governance. Read the official fee categories (opens in a new tab) and use the current review for your action’s quoted amounts. A failed onchain transaction can still incur a network fee.

Keep enough ETH on the source network

A network fee marked max is a reviewed upper amount rather than the amount already charged. Inspect the exact native fee value as well as its USD estimate. You also need any ETH sent by the action itself and, for Move, its bridge fee.

If ETH is short, the review identifies the network and the amount to add when it can establish one. Receive ETH opens the funding path. Add funds on that network and prepare a fresh review. A verified receipt supplies the actual charged network fee after execution.

Set the applicable slippage limit

Max slippage is the adverse price movement you permit between quote and execution. A lower tolerance can cause a transaction to revert; a higher tolerance permits a less favorable execution. It is different from the protocol fee and price impact.

The gear on Trade, position actions, and applicable instant fxSAVE withdrawals offers 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, or a custom value greater than zero and up to 2%. Routed fxSAVE deposits use the SDK’s fixed base-pool-share floor; the chosen slippage preference does not create a final fxSAVE minimum. Borrow and Move retain their action-specific limits.

Wallet and saved settings

Network speed applies to the built-in wallet. An external wallet controls its own gas settings, so a form with only gas settings can hide the gear for that wallet. Settings are saved on this device and update open forms. Always read the wallet prompt and the current review before confirming.

See Review & confirmation for exact fees, changed terms, and receipts.
